Morning Suits

We hope we have removed the starch and stuffiness from tailoring. Our friendly and highly experienced tailors are not only well versed in the rules and dictates of formal wear but also how to bend and break those rules.

Wake up – it’s a beautiful morning!

Bespoke Morning Suit

Tailor’s Notes

This will probably be the most important morning of your life so you will want to wake up to colour and light, whilst considering the ceremony of the day ahead. So, although you may wish for continuity with the morning or wedding suit itself, there are some exciting ways of mixing and matching the colours of the ties/cravats and waistcoats of the groom’s party. There are some beautiful lilacs, lemons, ivory and indigo colours to select – the world really is your oyster (another good colour) on this momentous occasion. A selection of subtle shades enables you to bring a rosy blush to the groom’s attire – to match the blushing bride!

The Construction
Made with a canvass, our morning suits are made and cut in England. As with all photographs on our website, to the left are actual customers in actual Henry Herbert morning suits. As with every suit we make, they take 8-9 weeks to make – we have a half way baste fitting and then a forward baste fitting before the suit is finished and delivered.

The Morning Chorus

Tailor’s Notes

This handsome groom does not need a choir with his colourful co-ordination. What a wonderful medley, with the mellow yellow, double breasted, collared waistcoat, subtly patterned tie and that titanic tartan! The traditional theme of the morning suit is only enhanced by the introduction of some of the groom’s own lyrics to a swan song of the predictable. An operatic masterpiece, without the drama! A real classic.

Morning has broken – into a wonderful day

Bespoke Morning Suit

Tailor’s Notes

The morning suit can be as diverse as any other aspect of the wedding day. A subtle carousel of creams or ivories can bring a sunny splendour to the day. These subtle tones intertwine with the flowers for both the groom’s button hole display and the bride’s bouquet – a blossoming partnership! The angle of the bottom of the waistcoat fits smartly over the morning trousers – a look as relaxed as the groom – even if he’s not really!

Good Morning Sunshine

Tailor’s Notes

Our ‘models’ are as genuine as their smiles. This lovely couple (well, the groom) are our actual Clients. Ivory is the infinite colour for a classic waistcoat and this double breasted sunny look is enhanced, not only by the contrasting tie and red rose, but also the contrasting dark colour of the suit itself. As usual, the groom has co-ordinated his look with his beautiful bride – a good step in the right direction of wedded bliss! Unfortunately, Henry Herbert can only take a little of the credit for this photograph of a blissful day – this couple’s smiles alone are worthy of their own toast!

Bespoke Morning Suit

Tailor’s Notes
The question is always a morning suit or a wedding suit. If you are unsure, ask your fiancée. As Hardy Amies says, “It is the bride’s day. It is, therefore, for her to decide what sort of wedding she wants.” And take your cue from her accordingly: meringue = morning dress/black tie/white tie, short white dress = suit, anything else = go crazy! “Morning dress” means single-breasted morning coat, striped trousers, shirt, tie and waistcoat (no exceptions).

The Morning Blues

Bespoke Morning Suit

Tailor’s Notes

Lost in their own thoughts, this handsome couple exude style and poise. The distinguished groom has co-ordinated the subtle bursts of blue with the formal morning coat and distinctly debonair pinstripe trousers to give an all round look of perfect pastels and traditional tailoring. The waistcoat, left slightly unbuttoned at the bottom, again relates to the true story of a rounded regal representative who found it difficult to bend down, unless he left at least one button undone on his waistcoat – not that this dashing groom has such a problem. There are times when it is bliss to be blue.

The Construction
Made with a canvass, the suit is made and cut in England. As much of the suit as possible is hand tailored. As with every suit we make, unless you choose our Express service, the suit will take 8-9 weeks to make – we have a half way baste fitting and then a forward baste fitting before the suit is finished and delivered.
