I recently visited Paris to meet some friends and we unearthed this unloved French military tail coat. It seemed to fit quite well, so I thought I would try it on! It was a heavy material which was an interesting mix of wool, polyester and mohair. It has some discreet and interesting features – a zip pocket hidden inside the embroidery, a ticket pocket for rifle ammunition and a small sling pocket inside the sleeve cuff which unbelievably was made to hide a knife….hopefully not from fear of attack from the bride! Unfortunately I had to leave this beautiful example of a tail coat behind in Paris.
